Women and Media

We each perceive social identity or status differently, and the combination of all our perceptions creates how each person views the world, which creates our understanding of today’s social media. My perception is not the same as others’ perspectives for each person has different special beliefs about social or personal identity. The image of oneself is something that indicates values and perceptions in this given society that delivers a strong sense of meaning to others. It is always an expression of the current standard that has an insightful power—my social identity. Society sets this standard. School is the most important part of my personal life in this given society that contributes to my professional competence, even though school is a smaller example of this large society.

Since this course mainly talks about issues that faces women, I have two examples here for my first blog posting. I find it interesting once I saw a question: “Are women sexist because they prefer male bosses?” The major concern is, "would you prefer a mean male boss or a mean female boss?"
The second example was a news on the internet. The links of the news was posted by several feminist social media sites, "feministing.com" and "bitch magazine." This news was meaningful to female audience because this is one of the biggest challenges facing girls and young women today.
Miscarriage of a woman was still a very controversial issue in today's social media circle. Lots of feminist sites posted articles like pregnancies result in miscarriage. There was a real example occurred in the U.S. On December the 3rd. In the state of Michigan, a woman sued the U.S Conference of Catholic Bishop over miscarriage treatment.

Social media is a great platform to show those concerns to the public. Social media improves social interaction on the internet among various people all over the world in which they share or exchange any information in this virtual communities.

. I choose this YouTube video “Official Coca-Cola "Big Game" Commercial 2014 - America Is Beautiful” to be the conclusion for my first blog. Because it says, “The only thing more beautiful than this country are the people who live here.”
