Who do you think you are?

Certain types of media have become much incorporated into my life, for example I consume Vines before bed. I love these six-second videos that make me laugh, videos of people tripping, cute animal being silly, kids falling on their ass, or epic fails. After a few good giggles I’m ready for bed, it tends to set the mood and it will make falling asleep easier. It’s only natural that I have a Vine account, I’m a media maker in that sense because I’ll add videos of my friends or other performances I see, however I’ll never add videos of myself.

While our world is about sharing our lives in social media, by photos, videos, and status updates. I am not interested in adding video or photos of myself. I emphasize on the fact that I enjoy watching others; however I would never want to participate. Is it because I am a shy or private person? No, I’m very outspoken and honest in real life! However, being the center of attention in social media has never been my cup of tea.  Most of the material I post on social media is focused on events, objects, friends, animals but rarely of me. I’m a strong believer that I can be part of a social media world without having to include personal information of my life. There’s no need to constantly tell people every minute of one’s life, however you can share your life via self-contained and selective photos, videos, stories and events.

Buzzfeed has become a huge source of social media in my life. Buzzfeed presents everything that I find stimulating. There I can find everything from the latest celebrity gossip, silly animal fails, and writer’s opinions to actual news about the world. Buzzfeed is an ideal model of how the modern world can share mass media events. It is the future of how information and knowledge is spread. Just like my grandparents read the newspaper every morning, I must browse Buzzfeed daily in order to stay on track with the world. This social website is an influential part of my life and helps shape my identity by introduction new ideas, articles, pictures and videos. -Roberto Moreno
